Active ePedigree Management™
|
Overview
rfXcel’s Active ePedigree Management™ allows manufacturers, distributors, and retailers to track the chain of custody of prescription drugs through the pharmaceutical supply chain. rfXcel’s EPCglobal certified system is the most production-proven system on the market today, deployed at major Fortune 500 companies, shipping pedigrees to customers in all 50 states on a daily basis. The system is fully compliant with all current state and federal pedigree laws, which require trading partners to provide an authenticated transaction history of prescription drugs. And rfXcel provides regular upgrades to its subscribers to maintain compliance as new laws take effect.

Business Problem
Counterfeit drugs are increasingly becoming a significant issue for pharmaceutical manufacturers, distributors, and retailers, as well as consumers. Worldwide estimates indicate that approximately 10% of pharmaceutical drugs are counterfeit, with most of the problem occurring in underdeveloped countries. With increasingly porous borders, the flow of counterfeit drugs into developed countries will continue to drive strict regulations to protect the security of the pharmaceutical supply chain. Given the complicated nature of the pharmaceutical supply chain – drugs are often traded several times between manufacturer and retailer, it is often difficult to trace the chain of custody for such a large volume of pharmaceuticals.
