Serialization Processing System
Overview
rfXcel’s Serialization Processing System provides a solution for companies that want to integrate serialization with rfXcel’s Traceability products. This enables companies to create, store, and manage serial numbers and their hierarchies from the pallet down to the item-level. The system includes an EPCIS repository to store event and transaction information, and supports Capture and Query interfaces.
|
Key Features
Hierarchy Management – The system has a flexible configuration capability to define and manage serialization hierarchies such as items, inner-packs, cases or pallets. Product-package hierarchy and association of appropriate serial numbers to given hierarchy is managed in the configuration tables where relationships between different object classes in the hierarchy are defined. This allows the SPS system to be configured for each production site to support their serialization hierarchy needs.
Serial Number Management – Serial numbers can be either generated internally by SPS or integrated from an EPC cache or other external sources. Typically, this involves setting an initial Serial number value and selecting an algorithm to generate subsequent numbers in the sequence. Serialization Processing System provides the capability to integrate with RFID or 2D Bar Code middleware to collect and process EPC tag as well as product and packaging information.
System Interfaces – In addition to interfaces to RFID or 2D Bar Code middleware, SPS has the facility to support custom interfaces with existing systems such as ERP, WMS, etc. to exchange serialized shipping and receiving information. Through its tight integration engine, SPS will then pass pertinent serialization information to rfXcel’s ePedigree Management System and EPCIS repository to store EPC information.
